On Tuesday, April 22, an Earth Day Press Conference & Rally will take place from noon to 2 pm, on Public Square, in Wilkes-Barre, across from Department of Environmental Protection NE Regional headquarters. The Gas Drilling Awareness Coalition, the Luzerne County Green Party, the Northeastern Group of the Pa Sierra Club and others are organizing this event to demand that DEP return to its mission, which is “"to protect Pennsylvania's air, land and water from pollution and to provide for the health and safety of its citizens through a cleaner environment.”
