Climate, Jobs & Justice March in Philly

Greens will join Rise for Climate Action, an international mobilization on September 8 for a fast & just transition to 100% clean and renewable energy for all.  We will have a banner and distribute literature for our statewide candidates.

Participants are welcome to just join the march, or stay for the town hall and breakout sessions beginning at 11.  For details on how to meet up with the Green contingent be sure to contact Chris Robinson, Electoral Operations Working Group of the Green Party of Philadelphia (GPOP): 215-843-4256 or [email protected]

The  Philadelphia event will begin with a gathering at LOVE Park (15th and Arch St) at 9:45 am for a 10:00 am welcome and introduction.  Then there will be a march through SEPTA's Suburban Station in support of the Fossil Free SEPTA campaign, calling for SEPTA to transition to renewable energy, challenging its planned construction of a polluting gas-fired power plant in Nicetown, and lifting up a vision of expanded & improved public transit.

The march will end at 11 am at the First Unitarian Church (2125 Chestnut Street), with a Rise For Climate, Jobs and Justice teach-in and town hall. For later attendees and those with mobility limitations, organizers recommend arriving at the Church directly for the 11:00AM program.

At 12:00PM, two optional break-out sessions will be offered: an educational teach-in about the growing movement for climate justice in Southeastern Pennsylvania (1:30PM end time), or a non-violent direct action training hosted by Earth Quaker Action Team (3:00PM end time).
