Nominations for 2021 Green Party of PA

Steering Committee, Committee Team Leaders, and GPUS National Representatives

Any registered Green or Green supporter can nominate (or self-nominate) people for Steering Committee, State officers, Team Leaders, or representatives on GPUS.  According to our bylaws, the State Committee (delegates and Steering Committee) will vote for these positions at the first meeting of the year. This will be our January virtual meeting. 

Read the qualifications/responsibilities below and if you think of someone (including yourself) who may have the ability and desire to fulfill one of these positions, you can submit candidates for:

Responsibilities/Qualifications

Co-Chair (2)

Responsibilities

Elected for two-year terms - one each year in opposite years.  Call meetings; set agendas; attend bi-weekly meetings; respond promptly to calls for a vote; preside over meetings and elections; execute the business of the party; conduct polls; sign and submit legal election documents; work with state and federal elections officials to ensure operation within legal guidelines; promote the development of Steering Committee goals and planning to meet goals; serve as liaison and resource for Committees; give public statements when needed; provide vision and motivation for members.  

Qualifications

Registered Green; reliable; general knowledge of election processes; moderate understanding of computer tools, word processors, spreadsheets; enough time for weekly meetings and follow-up planning; leadership and motivational qualities.

Secretary

Responsibilities

Elected for a two-year term in odd years.  Attend bi-weekly meetings; respond promptly to calls for a vote; maintain records of all meetings; maintain party documents; help to set agendas; assist the Chair to execute the business of the party; conduct polls; sign and submit legal election documents; function as interim Chair in the event of vacancy of the Chair; serve as liaison and resource for Committees; provide vision and motivation for members.

Qualifications

Registered Green; reliable; general knowledge of election processes; moderate understanding of computer tools, word processors, spreadsheets, and web systems; enough time for weekly meetings and follow-up planning; leadership and motivational qualities.

Treasurer

Responsibilities

Elected for a two-year term in even years.  Attend bi-weekly meetings; respond promptly to calls for a vote; maintain financial records; deposit funds, issue payments; sign and submit legal financial documents; assist the Chair to execute the business of the party; serve as liaison and resource for Committees; provide vision and motivation for members.

Qualifications

Registered Green; reliable; general knowledge of election processes and financial election rules; moderate understanding of computer tools, word processors, spreadsheets, and web systems; enough time for weekly meetings and follow-up planning; leadership and motivational qualities.

At-Large Steering Committee (3)

Responsibilities

Elected for one-year terms, each year.  Attend bi-weekly meetings; respond promptly to calls for a vote; assist the Chair to execute the business of the party; serve as liaison and resource for a Committee; provide vision and motivation for members.

Registered Green; reliable; basic understanding of computer tools, word processors, and spreadsheets; enough time for weekly meetings and follow-up planning; leadership and motivational qualities.

Committee Team Leaders (4)

Responsibilities

Team Leaders/Co-Team Leaders are appointed by the Steering Committee for one-year terms and can be re-appointed in consecutive years. The Steering Committee will select appointees from accepted nominations. Team Leaders call and preside over Team meetings; set Team agendas; promote the development of Team goals and action planning to meet goals; ensure that records of meetings are recorded and maintained; provide vision and motivation for Team members; facilitate Team activities and help secure needed resources.

Qualifications

Registered Green; reliable; basic understanding of computer tools, word processors, and spreadsheets; enough time for bi-weekly meetings and follow-up planning; leadership and motivational qualities; various special skills for specific Divisions, such as knowledge of election processes for GreenWave, or media background for Communications.

 GPUS National Committee Delegates (4/4 alternates)

Responsibilities

Elected for two-year terms - two/two alternates each year in opposite years.  Participate in National Committee conference calls; review proposals, questions and topics for vote; communicate with and solicit feedback from state delegates; vote following national voting procedures; develop proposals and assist other members to develop proposals to submit to the National Committee from Green Party of Pennsylvania; attend the Annual National Meeting if possible.

Qualifications

Registered Green; reliable; good verbal and written communication skills; basic understanding of email, computer tools, and word processors; enough time for national conference calls and follow-up planning; leadership and motivational qualities.
