Glenn Davis Files for PA State Representative in District 190

On August 1, Glenn Davis filed nomination papers to be the Green Party of Pennsylvania’s candidate in PA House District 190. Davis is the chair of the Green Party of Philadelphia (GPOP, www.gpop.org) from Haddington in West Philadelphia.

After filing with the PA Secretary of State, Davis said, “I am tired of the present-day political system that does nothing for our community. It is time for a change. A vote for Glenn Davis will be a vote against mass incarceration. I will work to redirect funding out of the prison system and into public education. I will also work for a minimum wage of $15.00/hour and a 40 hour workweek throughout our Commonwealth.”

Julian Robinson, who has been accepted as a freshman at Community College of Philadelphia, has worked on the Glenn Davis Campaign, http://davis-gpofpa.nationbuilder.com/. Robinson said, “I believe in what he stands for. Glenn wants to save public schools, educate young people, turn vacant lots into gardens, raise the minimum wage, and start training programs for employment.”

Another volunteer with the Davis Campaign has been Jeremy R. Griffin, who has been accepted as a freshman at Kutztown University. Griffin is an environmental activist and a docent at Cobbs Creek Park. He says has worked on the Campaign for Glenn Davis because “the Green Party stands for ecological justice, and we need Glenn on the ballot.” Griffin says, “Glenn has been called ‘a breath of fresh air,’ and I agree with that.”

Glenn Davis is a 44 year old father of three, born and raised in West Philadelphia. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and has served as the vice-president of Shepard Recreation Advisory Council.

Davis considers ending mass incarceration to be one of his main issues. He has been active in DecarceratePA, and Davis walked from Philadelphia’s Love Park to the State Capitol in Harrisburg as part of the 2013 Decarcerate March to Stop Graterford Prison’s Expansion. Davis would like to reduce the budget of the Bureau of Corrections and increase spending for public education.
