Proposals, Promotions, Endorsements, and Statements

Members of the public and Green Party members may submit proposals requesting that the Green Party of Pennsylvania promote, endorse, sign onto, or issue a public statement regarding an organization, issue, campaign, or piece of legislation.

Examples include:

  • Promotion of events, organizations, or initiatives

  • Coalition sign-on letters

  • Public statements from the Green Party of Pennsylvania

  • Endorsements of campaigns, legislation, or policy initiatives

  • Press releases or other public communications

These requests are reviewed by the GPPA Steering Committee, which determines whether the party will take official action.

Steering Committee Review

Most proposals are reviewed during regularly scheduled Steering Committee meetings, where members deliberate and vote on whether the requested action should be approved.

During this process the Steering Committee may:

  • Approve the request

  • Modify the proposed language or action

  • Request additional information

  • Decline the request

All Steering Committee decisions are recorded in official meeting minutes.

Expedited / ASAP Endorsement Requests

Some proposals are time-sensitive and require action before the next scheduled Steering Committee meeting.

In March 2026, the GPPA Steering Committee adopted an Interim Action & Urgent Decision Process allowing the committee to take action between meetings when delay would materially impair the party’s ability to respond publicly or participate in coalition activity.

This expedited process may be used for:

  • Time-sensitive endorsements

  • Time-sensitive public statements

  • Coalition sign-ons with deadlines

  • Urgent responses to emerging events

When this process is used:

  • An interim vote is opened for Steering members

  • The vote remains open for 48 hours

  • At least 50% of seated Steering members must participate

  • Approval requires a two-thirds (66%) majority of seated Steering members voting YES

All actions taken through this process are documented by the Secretary and reported at the next Steering Committee meeting.

Requesting Expedited Consideration

If your proposal requires action before the next Steering Committee meeting, please indicate this when submitting the form by:

  • Marking the request as ASAP or time-sensitive

  • Providing the deadline and reason for urgency

Submitting a request as urgent does not guarantee expedited review, but it allows the Steering Committee to determine whether the ASAP endorsement process should be used.
