Green Party of Philadelphia will be celebrating our accomplishments this election at Villekebabs at 1722 Sansom Street from 8:30-11:30pm.

While election night results might not be finished being counted, and it might be days to know how much we have achieved. We will have a lot to discuss and celebrate and opportunities to build for the future. 

Our goals this year in the Green Party of Pennsylvania were to build towards and achieve 3 incremental goals in PA. How many of those we actually achieve will be be determined tomorrow. 

Goal 1: 2% of the highest vote earners share statewide and in 10 counties for Jill Butch, Leila, or Richard. This is outlined in Section 801 of the election code to earn minor party status for 2 years and in section 626-630, the election code says we steal the monopoly on special elections for 2 years from the democrats and republicans. This makes special elections the most viable path to green party getting into Harrisburg and Washington. In Philadelphia, it makes our local races, especially council at large and commissioner seats viable for us too without conflict with the Working Families Party. 

Goal 2: 5% federal for Dr. Jill Stein and Dr. Butch Ware. This will take away the duopolies control of public funding for Presidential elections. 

Goal 3: 15% of registered voters. This will allow us to access the Pennsylvania Primary and become a major party like the democrats and republicans and have formal recognition of our committee structures. 

While goal 3 will take several years. Goal 1 and 2 are in play. If we reach at least 1 of these goals, we won 2024 in Pennsylvania regardless of who enters office. Peace will be on the ballot for 2 years in PA without signatures in special elections that democrats and republicans don't run primaries, and maybe we will take back our tax dollars for presidential campaigns too.
